71st  INDEPENDENCE DAY – 2017

India will celebrate its 71st Independence Day on 15th August and the official celebrations would take place at Red Fort, Delhi.

The day is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm across the country. Schools, colleges and offices hold grand cultural events and people come together to pay homage to the freedom fighters and legends who valiantly fought for the country.

Independence day has a very deep meaning for Indians. It all started from British East India company invasion and soon India’s lack of unity among different kingdoms lead to revolt of 1857.

Though Indian troops fought with immense bravery and valour but British troops used modern weapons and technology defeated tradition as India lost to britishers.

Queen Victoria became first empress of India. Britishers started Zimindari system to raise their funds and exploited poor people treating them very badly.

Raja Ram Mohan Roy was the first Indian reformer who tried to stop age old traditions such as Sati Pratha, A practice where widow was burnt alive as soon as her husband died.

Political pressure was destabilising the country, Satyendra Nath Bose formed Indian National Congress. This was one of the greatest move and helped India later. However, things were still not good. Indians were being looted, exploited and often looked upon as slaves.

India, golden bird country soon lost much of its wealth to British hands.

Lal bahadur shastri, Bipin pal and Bal gangadhar tilak initiated Swadeshi moment, a practice aimed to boycott foreign goods.

A special Simon commission was passed by british administration which heavily raged Indians. Many people opposed the law with posters saying, Go Back Simon.

British troops showed their worst face and attacked civilians at Jalianwala Bagh, 13th April,1919 On the occasion of Baisakhi. Many civilians were shot at alive and killed on spot. General Dyer is known the man behind this worst hit man made disaster of history.

Many people jumped to well to protect themselves.

The gruesome act was strongly criticised and British troops started feeling unity of India against them.

Bhagat singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev come ahead and bombarded a live court session but were later arrested and hanged to death.

Mahatama Gandhi, popularly known as BAPU came ahead and launched several operations and movements and adopted Non-Violence as the only path.

He launched many non-violence movements such as Satyagraha, Non-Cooperation movement, Dandi March/Quit India etc.

Indian army was exploited too in world war-II.

Raising pressure and constant outbreaks against British troops forced them to finally free India.

But before Indians could enjoy freedom, India-Pakistan Partition happened which was one of the worst happenings of history.

Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru  became first Prime Minister of India while Dr. Rajendra Prasad became first president of Independent India on 15th August,1947.

India has changed a lot since that time and has become one of the biggest democratic country of all time.

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil main hai. Dekhna hai zor kitna bazu-e-kaatil mein hai.
